Some of you may have already heard that Tony Charles-Roberts has retired after 26 years with our firm, and Caroline Paterson has been admitted into the partnership. Chris and Caroline have divided up Tony’s clients, and we have extensive background notes and histories on everyone, so the transition should be very smooth. The rest of our staff remains the same.

We thought it would be a good time to update the firm’s name as well, and we came across some old files at the back of Tony’s office that trace the 38 years of history that our firm has in Sidney. In 1970, the firm was established as Farley, Dawson & Co. In 1976 it became Dawson & Moore, and in 1979 Moore & Friesen. In 1987 it changed once again to Moore, Roberts & Co., Chris’s name was added in 2006, and as of 2008 we have dropped the retirees’ names, and we will be known as Cowland Paterson & Co.

Cowland Paterson & Co is one of the first firms in B.C. to be recognized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of B.C. and the Certified General Accounts Association of B.C. as a professional partnership of a CA and a CGA. We feel this makes us unique in the industry and able to draw upon a diverse range of professional experience and ability.
